Suzuki Maintenance Schedule / real world vs. owners manual. 175 4 stroke

Does anyone have any real world experience or a chart for scheduled maintained for a 175 Suzuki 4 stroke? My owner?s manual basically says change the oil and water pumps ect, but there has to be more to it than that.

I found this blurb from Rodbolt that got me thinking:

?, filters should be done once per year OR every 100 hours. each injector has a fitler in the inlet that can clog and shut off or restrict fuel to that cylinder, injectors can be sent out,I use Flagship marine in FL to clean and test mine??
.

I want to get a few thousand hours out of these motors and any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

keep your fuel clean and fresh, use Stabil Marine all the time, more when you're not going to run motor for several weeks/months, install fuel/water seperator(Walmart $27), other brands are fine too. Change your oil/filter on the schedule, check belts, hoses, pumps, filters, spark plugs, all electrical connections for vibration or corrosion, every time you use motor. Last week I just decided to remove my prop to check everything out down there and there was a ball of monofilament fishing line all wrapped around the hub which could have damaged the lower seal, but didn't because I found it. These motors a really very good and designed to run, but you need to stay on top of them on a regular basis. Good Luck!

Unless the design has changed, you should pull the prop shaft housing and clean the salt deposit and corrosion from the surface that contacts the gear case. I just did service on 2002 140 and gearcase is ruined because of this.
This service listed in some of the service manuals, and taught at service school.

Thanks for the info, good pointer on the prop shaft and gear case. One of the dealers in town stressed pulling the prop to check for line and gunk.

Good stuff. Anyone else?

Well the 100hr service is due now and I have a question.
The Manual says replace Oil & Gear oil but not the filter??? What? Why would they do that? Am I wasting money if I do the oil and filter? I really have about 80 hours idle and trolling and 20 on plane but I want to keep with the books for war issues.
