I spun out my propeller Dec 30 on my Suzuki 140hp mod. 1988. I would like to know if I should be able to turn my prop shaft while its in gear. When I do I hear a clicking sound but it will still turn. Just wanted to know if after I get a propeller there is another problem, you see the motor ran for awhile after it spun out. When I run the motor on land in gear the prop still turns so I know the shaft is still hooked up. Help if you can.thank you

Re: suzuki prop

I would suggest that you remove the prop, put the ear muffs on and run the engine to see if you still have noise. If you do, you have a gear problem, if you don't then it's in the prop, due to the spinout. The prop should not turn by hand in gear. Also try to turn the shaft while in gear (not running), and check for visual damage. Hope this helps for starters.

Re: suzuki prop

John777 I have a Suzuki DT85. If you have it in gear when you turn the prop it will 'click' - in neutral it should spin freely with no noise.

Cheers
Mike
