Swap Force 125 for Merc 115 ???

I recently aquired an 88 model VIP Bass Boat with a Force 125 on it. The Force has ignition problems. Have ordered a CD module. I also have a similar year Mercury 115 "Tower of Power" Even if the force engine runs out good. Would I be better off to swap it out with the Mercury?

I always prefer to leave an existing engine on the boat. However, if you do need to change, the Merc will probably give equal or better performance. Your money--your choice

If that Mercury 115 hp tower is a 6 cylinder as I think it might be, it's refered to by Merc dealers as a "work horse". I owned one and ran it hard for 6 years without a blink of trouble. Only negative is that I found it to be a rather noisy motor. Also owned several Chryslers and liked em. One I like best was that old 90 hp Chrysler. I like underdogs ...LOL
