Re: Swapped carbs
What year 100 hp engine do you have? The idle bleeds are not much of an indication of ability to make hp. It's the combination of larger carb throats (which you've done), coupled with the size of the main jets, which are located in the bowls of the carbs. If the carbs flow more air and more fuel, the engine will certainly make more hp. Could be that it now makes 110+ at the crank. After about 1986, things changed. Engines went from crank hp ratings to propshaft hp ratings. The early 115's (perhaps the flatback 115 models) probably used those 1 3/16" carbs. The later 115's with the bubble back exhaust system used the even larger 1 5/16" carbs and make more hp-rated 115 at the propshaft. Head configuration is also important. The early (maybe up to 85 or so) crossflows all had higher compression heads-even the lowly 85's. Later crossflows used the lower compression bathtub heads on all models. Also, some of those early flatback 115's the factory installed the rubber intake filler blocks that were found on the 140's. They were good for 3-5 hp. If you have not added them to your 100, you are missing out on hp.
