I want to swap a 4 cyl 125hp Volvo 4 cyl for a Volvo 6 cyl. I have a 270 Outdrive on the boat. Any ideas on if this can be done using the same outdrive? Any locations for a motor swap? Current engine runs excellent, need more power for skiing.

Yes you can do it. I assume you are talking about swapping gasoline B20 4 cyl til B30 6 cyl. I have done this myself years ago. The B30 engine is in fact just a 4 cyl with 2 extra cylinders !!! The exhaust elbow of the 170 HP is bigger than the 130, so you need another exhaust adapter for the drive. The 170 engine has same rpm but more power, so you have to go about 4 " up in pitch or better: change the bottum gear in drive, which is the way the factory did. Be aware the drive mount can´t carry the 6 cyl, it has to have engine mounts. If you use a used car engine, you have to change camshaft, exhaust manifold, waterpump and carbureators.

The 6 cyl has to hawe as well external waterpump as internal for circulation purpose to prevent overheating in cylinderhead.

Good luck
