I have a 1977 351W that is believed to have a cracked block. (still waiting on the mechanic to look at it) However I have found a good running 1985 351W out of a vehicle. If I understand correctly the block and heads are the same (marine vs land) but the cam will be different. Does anyone know if I will have a problem using the newer block vs. trying to find an older one and rebuilding it?

be sure to also use brass freeze plugs and install marine head gaskets.

That "newer" one is still 27 years old, Make sure that one is sound or you will be in the same boat. (pun intended)
