so i bought new (used but new to me) boat. i feel that all in all was and is a good purchase so right now im stoaked!! its been almost 4 years since my last and that one required alot of cosmetic work, nothing major but alot of time!

so this one has been pretty simple so far...almost too simple! i have been coming out to the garage to look for things to clean up or fix.

i figured i would just post my progress so far:

* cleaned the outside ~ of course who wouldnt do this first!!!
* cleaned all the seats and sunpad ~ werent as bad as i thought they were
* took the carpet cleaner to the carpet ~ again wasnt nearly as bad as it origionally looked
* glued back a couple sections of the dash on both sides at the bottom where the material started to peal back
* got ALL of the gauge lights working
* fixed 2 of the switches that were wired incorrectly so the cockpit lighting works correctly and when you turn the bildge pump on the navi lights dont turn on
* pulled out the stupid shelf speakers that the previous owner put under the dash and replaced the blown speakers mounted behind them ~ perfect time for a little upgrade as there is a 400 watt amp there!! bonus!!
* pulled out the bimini top that i though was distroyed ~ come to find out that just the boot around it was dirty and the top was brand new!! also found burried in a storage area the complete camping top that attaches to the bimini...which was brand new never used!! the last owner didnt even know it was there ~ double bonus!!
* epoxided a little section of the rubrail fram that cracked some time ago
* stripped the grime off the prop and outdrive ~ boat lived in a river off erie so it was caked on
* replaced the bildge drain and plug ~ the one that was there that replace the origional was brass and didnt fit correctly thus the caulking everywhere around it! when i pulled it out i was fortunate that the manufacture completed glassed in the whole correctly so water wouldnt penetrate the transome :)
* had an issue with my daugther and the trim of the outdrive ~ learned that the trim limit switch isnt complely shot just needed adjusted. trailer switch still works at all times so it is somewhat shot along with the trim sender completely inop. this maybe a time for one of my local marina's to spend some time with her as i dont want to remove the complete outdrive so i can get the trim gauge to work.

so, all in all i havent had a bad time! any simple time with your boat before the weather breaks is good time!! especially when you go to take her out for the season and EVERYTHING works!! I am "that guy" that wants everything to work THE RIGHT WAY!! :D

Re: sweat equity to my new used boat!

Thanks guys! Boating is my mini vacation pleasure! I am ready to get out and might try to sneak out sometime this weekend. Told the wife that I need to get her out for a trial run to make sure she's ready for company hehe

Currenlty I am just going to **** and moan about em!

I think I will prob leave them on and leave the boat outside of the garage. Once mowing season starts and I put the deck back on the tractor, I need the garage space. I see a poll barn in my future! Wife thinks I should sell something but I think I just need more garage :D

Exzzzactly! Just to add to that, WHEN you build your pole barn, double the size you think you need. When building mine, I was going to do 20 x 28'. Everyone talked me into expanding it, and I ended up at 32' x 40'. Guess what - it's filled up 5 years later, and I am looking at building another.

i was thinking 32x40!

house currently has a three car garage so that has to be enough or the wife will get her way!!
