I am installing a swim platform on my 1986 Fourwinns and I am needing some brackets. I found some aluminum ones on ebay for $40.00 a peice. I would really like to go cheaper is there any suggestions that you guys have. Can I make the brackets out of steel and powder coat them?

If you have a local metal shop - they might be able to weld you up a couple of aluminum brackets cheaper than $40 each. Just a thought. I agree with Bondo to stay away from the steel - unless Stainless.

I would have some stainless ones welded up that matched your transom angle.

How bad would it be if they didn't match the transom angle?

Re: Swim platform brackets

Your swimstep would be at an angle to the water!

If your transom is vertical relative to the water line, then it is not an issue.

Re: Swim platform brackets

Well I never really noticed my transom to have much of an angle. I have found some that are 90 degrees I hope they will be alright.
