I purchased a teak platform at end of last season and am getting ready to install it on the Capri. Current swim step is very small and this modification will make it easier for us older folks to board!

The issue is the shallow V shape of the transom which I know I cannot duplicate on the teak platform which is a straight line where it should be attached to the transom.

My options are to purchase L brackets, aluminum to attach it to the transom plus use alum. struts from the leading edge to the transom or to purchase the larger L brackets with strut combined as hardware. Any advice which is better? I already have 2 suitable alum. struts but the L brackets I have are too short since this platform will be mounted away from the transom to account for the V shape of transom. All connections at the transom will be thru bolted with proper sealant and backing plates, etc. and attachment at the platform will be wood screws. I am trying to keep the total cost reasonable and would reuse the 2 struts if possible.

Then I just need to purchase a 3 step boarding ladder telescoping type and I am set I think!

If anyone has added a platform to their Bayliner I would love to see the pics.

Thanks.
Joe

I decided to go with the L brackets that have the diagonal strut contained within it, a little more expensive but it will definitely support the teak. I found a good 3 step ladder at WestMarine for a reasonable price and will likely order that one.

That is what I have been looking for too, on this plus another forum. No pics of my type of platform with the slats of teak wood but I did find one of a more solid platform on a Bayliner. On my installation I am hesitant to cut out the exact angle so that it fits flush to the transom. There will be about a 4in. gap on either side between the transom and the platform.
