swim platform/water in cowl..

im beginning to wonder if some of this summers problems comes from my platform....it kicks up some water when going on plane and find the cowling foam wet and some waterdrops on engine.... how mutch water does the motor tolerate before giving h***? my car engine has gone thru swamps only air intake over water... ob engines are made for"marine" use?? or are my suzy 140 just s***....old85 johns worked just fine but a littel small for my boat... :confused:

I can give you a $4,000.00 answer. I got some water under the cowling of one of my motors (1987 V4) and it was injested into the engine at 4200 rpm - caused severe detonation in one cylinder and was not rebuildable.
