I am ona quest to upgrade my larger bowrider with a swim platform. None of the aftermarket ones seem right so I'm down to making one. Any suggestions of what wood to use?

Re: Swim Platform

I once made one for my 21' daycruiser. Made from 2 layers of 1/4" plywood glued together with 3/4" x 2" fur between.

Made a model to fit transom of boat first.

Covered all with 3 layers of mat and poly resin. Grinden and painted with urethane paint in boat colour.

Looked very "factory made"

My transom's very odd to, so I'm up to sort of the same thing as G Dane did... Fiberglass and use a urethane foam core instead of wood.. ;)

Teaks nice but too dang expensive.... Hard to find too...

That sounds like a plan. What did you use for brackets?

Re: Swim Platform

I made my own from stainless steel, very similar. Be sure to get saltwater resistant SST
