Re: swim platforms????????

From what I recall, they are expensive. I looked into one for a 2004 Bayliner 205, I think the price quote was around $1000 plus shipping.

If the price and shape etc. are right, make sure you think about anything else you might add to the stern i.e. trim tabs etc. Also, make sure there are no trailer issues and of course that you can get the drive all of the way up!!

Re: swim platforms????????

Ladder,I highly recommend swimplatforms.com I ordered a swim platform from them 2 years ago.I could not be happier with the platform they made for me.Scott is the main man there and used to make the platforms for SeaRay and then went out on his own.I wanted to update my boat which had a teak platform.I traced out a template from the old platform and sent him a few pictures of the underside of the platform and my transom.I told him that I wanted it larger and he custom made a platform for my boat to my specs. He even colored it to the exact color of my boat. The guy was fantastic. The whole process took about a month with sending the template and marking where the supports should go and emailing pictures and he sent me color samples and he wound up doing it from a sample of my hull color. And get this....He never asked me for a dime until it was complete and ready to ship.Thats unheard of!!!My total cost with shipping was about $1400. 10 feet wide by about 4 feet deep with a stainless ladder underneath...A large platform!! It made my boat look like new.Do a swim platform search,I posted pictures of the finished product here last year.As I said before,I highly recommend them.I priced platforms and there was no comparison at all.I am as happy with the platform as I could possibly be. :) :) :) :) :) Charlie

That's right... And, you don't need teak either... Built mine for less than $100..
watermark.php
That's plain ol lumber yard 1"x4" and 1"x2" Fir, glued with epoxy and screwed together with SS screws, then sanded and coated with Behr(sp? Bher, behr) deck stain...

The transom brackets (4 of them) are made of 3"x6", 1/4" thick aluminum scraps that I bent in a vice, with a little heat and a hammer... All the transom brackets have large aluminum backing plates inside the boat...

The 4 support rods are 1" stainless steel tube.. The ends of the tubes were flattened and bent in a vice..

About the only "special tool" you'd need to make one like mine is a table saw to rip down the small spacer pieces..

VERY nice SB!!

A variation of that is to hinge it and use SS chain for supports.

Aldo
