Re: Swim Step Motor Mount?

I've wondered the same thing about mounting a kicker to the swim platform on my boat then read on another forum about a guy who had a nice aluminum right angle mount fabricated only to have the platform snap in two when he hit a wave and dump the kicker overboard.

You may have to use a proper transom mount and notch your platform, sorry to say. With mine I'm just going to mount direct to the transom. I've got a platform on the port side only but wanted the motor to go there to balance the weight out better. With my battery and me on the starboard side already, I didn't want to add another bunch of weight. Probably not an issue with your boat so much as it's considerably larger.

Here are a couple of pics of a mount I had made over the winter. Cost me a case of beer for my buddy's friend to make it at work. It's over fibreglass but perhaps will work in your situation. I used a bottom plate to sandwich the swim deck.

Hey Chief, thanks for those two links, the $105 sounds a lot better to me. Cool runnings.
