My boat has a fiberglass built in swim step across the back of the boat, but it is very slippery when wet. Is there a spray on rubber to make it not so slippery? or what have people used in the past?

Thanks

Re: swim step

What I did in the area that is immediately next to the ladder was to but a carpeted outdoor mat and trim it to the shape of the swim step. I installed snaps on the mat and the boat so I can take it off when needed. Have had a lot of positive comments from people who have seen what I have done. What prompted me to do this was slipping and falling on my stainless duo props(engine NOT running). I was lucky that I wasn't hurt by the sharp edges of the props.

Also, never wax that area. Seems obvious but the previous owner of my boat did such.

Thanks, I will look into all of these. I do like the carpet idea. I am leaning more towards the white roll on. Question I have with that is all the stuff I am finding says for bare metal. Is there stuff for fiberglass, or will the stuff for the bare metal work? The thing about the tape is that it is already bumpy and not sure if it will stick. I guess using and adhesive would be better for that?

Re: swim step

Sea Dek, I just ordered a pad from them for my swim platform and it is perfect for the problem you are describing. Costs a few hundred bucks but can really make a big difference when using the deck and trying to put on a pair of skis or walk on the platform without slipping and getting hurt.

Re: swim step

What I did on my last boat was to cut a piece of marine carpet and install it (via snaps), it worked very well. What alot of people are doing is using hydro-tuff mat (or similiar--jet ski style rubber mat) on the platform.
