2005 Four Winns 200Le (19'6") with 5.0L Volvo Penta SX drive. Currently have a 14 1/2" x21 (pretty sure that was the size I read a couple days ago) - 3 blade.

Prop has been repaired once before and needs it again. Was thinking I'd get this repaired to use as a spare and then swap over to a SS prop as my main prop. I *think* the rule of thumb was to drop an inch or two of pitch with same diameter when switching to SS. Is that correct? If so, any good (and economical) props out there for my particular setup?

Re: Switch from AL to SS prop

I did that same thing a couple years ago and don't regret the move. I went from an AL 3 blade 21P to a SS 4 blade 19P. The prop shop guy recommended that pitch drop and he was right. I get on plane much easier, and can hold plane at a slower speed. I also get a better hole shot. Not sure what impact this had on my top speed, wouldn't surprise me if I lost a mph or two, but I never track my top speed so I don't know for certain.
