switch old power trim unit to new motor

have a 1978 115 hp johnson with a bad #1 cyclinder.found used 1976 115 hp evinrude great shape & just rebuilt but has no power trim.will my old power trim fit on the evinrude or not?

It will not fit, the 73 - 77 115 units fit but not newer. You need one with the cylinders on the outside and they are fairly hard to find and usually fairly expensive. You can buy a CMC unit and mount the 76 motor to it and have tilt and trim.
