A 20 hp outboard driving a jet pump is about the equivalant of a 10 hp with a prop...depending on the boat it may be more like a 5 hp. IF your boat will even plane with a 20 hp pump...it will require a whole lot of distance at WOT to get it there. Be prepared to rebuild that motor in a very short time as well, for the pump will cause it to red line most of the time. I'm not against jet pumps...they're great when matched with an appropriate power unit. I just don't think a '68 20 hp Johnson is it.
