switch want kill the engine + water pump impeller replacement

)1)have a 89 model 200xp,,i cranked it with the key but when i turn the key off it will not kill the engine. anyway to kill the engine without useing the key/switch or what could be my problem?
2) also does anyone have a link that will show me how to replace the water pump and impeller for this engine

Sounds like a bad switch to me. You'll probably need to replace it. Also, if you're planning on replacing the impeller, I would suggest getting the Service Manual for that specific motor. That's a serious outboard you have there and the manual will be the best source of instruction you can find.

The ignition switch is very rarely defective. Most of them are replaced only to find that did not fix the problem. Diagnose, isolate, and THEN replace defective parts. The engine should have a kill switch. To kill the engine, pull the lanyard. As for the wiring AND the impeller replacement, a service manual is your friend. Doing your own work on an outboard without a service manual is asking for expensive mistakes and hours of frustration due to "trial and error" workmanship. Clymers and Seloc are two service manuals available for your outboard. While not as good as the factory manuals, they are better than no manual at all (usually).
