no fire on plugs, took blk/ yellow wire loose from switch, motor started rite up, runs great , switch wont turn engine off. have to touch wire i took off to stop it what should t do
if your engine uses a magneto, that yellow and black may have been the ground wire from your magneto to your ignition switch. when you turn the switch to off it should ground the magneto and stop the current from going to the plugs. If you cant get the engine to run with it hooked up that wire may be grounding it self out somewhere along the line. I am new to this stuff but I just got my 1960 60hp Sea King running and I had the same type of problem. Hope this helps
actually it sounds like your ignition switch may be bad becuase if you touch the wire to the spot that was connected to on the switch and it shuts off it must be grounding it self. just a guess.
