Switched from Merc Black Max to SS Turbo 1

I have a 20' Starcraft 5.7L 235hp Carbed Merc with an Alpha 1. I was currently getting around 50 to 53mph @ 4100rpms with the 14.25 x 19 Black Max. I am switching to the SS Turbo 1 at the recommondation of my marina. The SS prop is 14.25 x 17. My WOT is 4400-4600. I have been running 4100rpms with the Black Max with normal load conditions....4 people 2 coolers and gear. I would like to know what to expect with the switch? Faster..Slower...Running closer to my WOT...any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Well, I just switched from 19" Alum Black Max to a Rapture 17" SS prop. The SS prop really picked my boat out of the water, increased RPM by about 400 and added 6 mph or so. I don't know if you'll see that much a difference because maybe you're set up was more efficient than mine already. You should get up near your WOT RPM range, which is good.

What happened to tmh happened to me also. By changing props and improving performance, less of the hull was in the water and hence drag was reduced. This allowed for more rpms (with a higher pitched prop) AND more mph. Usually you don't get both..you go after one or the other depending on your setup and where you are in rpms and mph.
