ok you guys have probably been following my million questions about the switch from vro to a regular fuel pump.

Well I did, I used the one that goes on a 1983 70 hp, just a regular premix fuel pump.

I havent lake tested it, but I have let it idle for a while on muffs and it filled the bowls, because the bulb stays hard now and didnt die eventually.

heres the questions I have now.

1. how bad is it to not have it mounted...I plan on doing this but didnt construct the plate yet. It stays in place really well from the 3 hoses thogh, I dont forsee it moving much at all. Can this cause any problems.

2. the pulse line from the block is 1 size bigger than the pulse nipple on the fuel pump so I juse used a hose clamp and tightened it down. Its darn snug, but I was just going to make sure that reduction in size is going to be a problem.

if so, where can I get another pulse valve for my block? Is there anything special about that valve on the block? OR is it just a threaded nipple valve that I could buy at a hardware store? Is there a gasket behind it or anything?

thanks

Firstly, glad to see that you got the pump on. Make the adapter plate and mount it. I would not be happy to have my fuel pump have the ability to bounce around firmly in place or not.
The pulse line, either put a double end reducer in the line at a convenient position and you should be good to go. I did this on a friends motor with the same scenario. Worked out great.
Bottom line is that the pulse line must not leak at the connections.
Good luck at the lake. Let us all know how you make out and biggest thing is .....REMEMBER TO PREMIX !!!! Put a sign on the tank to remind you.
