Switching from cable steering to hydraulic

The boat is a 1979 MFG. The Motor is a 1985 Yamaha 200hp Outboard. The Yamaha was hooked up to hydraulic steering on the boat I bought it from, a mid 80's Wellcraft. As far as I know the steering on the boat now is original and was hooked up to the '79 Evinrude I replaced. I have installed hydraulic steering once before so I know the procedure somewhat. My question is, what kind of roadblocks might I run into? I'm thinking that one of them could be the hole where the steering wheel is now. I'm fearing that the hole cut into the console now will be too big for the reservoir on the new set up. As far as running the hoses back and installing the steering linkage on the Yamaha that should be straight forward as well. I shouldn't need any other parts that may not come in the kit.

Anyone have any suggestions, comments, prior cursing episodes, doing something like this?

As far as the console hole - You should be able to measure the existing hole from the backside of the console. The Seastar standard helm pump calls for a 3" hole.

If the hole is 4-1/2" (or less) Seastar has an adapter bezel, (#HA4518), to allow installation through the larger hole.

Hope this helps. :)

yeah it does, I plan on taking some measurements tomorrow. I also e-mailed teleflex and hope they can walk me through it as well.
