Hey guys Im back on my 84 140 MerCruiser 3.0 and I still got that small miss when I throttle up. I think my wiring is going bad, the resister wire. Like I explained before I can run a jumper from the positive on the solenoid to the positive on the coil and throttles up just fine. Is there a kit I can use to correct this or can I run a new resister wire. Thanks

I would suggest the Pertronix conversion kit. Many places sell them. Here is one:
Pertronix

While I am not familiar with the after market ignition,I do know if you run the points at 12 volts, they will burn out, shortly. The resistor wire drops the voltage so this does not happen.

Because your motor runs poor I think you have resistance in the points.Clean and gap them,or better install a tune up kit. This will give you a new condenser and rotor.

Do this every Spring, and generally you won't have problems.
DHP
