sx-m growl

I have a 2005 four winns with the 4.3 gxi and a volvo sx-m 1.79 drive. The drive is making a growling noise when you turn the steering wheel. it is not so bad when the wheel is centered but if it is left or right it growl and vibrates. it seems to disapear when you are at (wot) so my ? to you guys is what do you think the problem is. (gimble bering? u Joints? bellows? all of the above?)
and finaly how hard of a job ( 1-10) is it to go thru a lower unit like this.

could be all 3 ,water will take out the bearing and U joints,.Pull the drive and inspect everything .

I doubt the bellows are growling , but I agree the only way to tell is to get the drive off and look.

Are you noticing this on the muffs in the driveway? If so, they all have some growl to them especially when the gears aren't loaded. The big question is how much.

I've went thourgh the same issue...it seems the sx-m have a common growl with minimal turn's..I had mine checked out and all was good.

THose are very expensive drive's id have it checked for peace of mind.

No this is not in the driveway it is in the water. it probaly just needs u joints and a gimble bering. i am goingt o give it a try this weekend. any advice on what to do or not do would be cool.
