Hi last year I had a vibration from the leg, the gimble had just replaced so I thought UJ,s . I ordered and fitted new cross members and it all felt better except for hard lock to starboard. It's not got any better and maybe a little worse now and I may even be able to hear a knocking most of the time ( but maybe just imaging it as others can't here it) So my question is do I replace the crosses again of go for a whole UJ leg which volvo recommend? When I changed the cross members before I did not research and failed to keep the assembly aligned the same way so I guess I lost the balance of the shaft, is there away of finding out which way around the parts should be aligned? Thanks for looking/help

It would be near impossible to tell which way it when originally without some kind of picture of how it was originally, even then with a picture I imagine it would be very difficult.

At this point your best bet would be to buy the whole U-Joint Assembly and bring it to a certified Volvo mechanic and have them install it. The installation into the drive end requires some knowledge and past experience, best left to a expert or you risk destroying the drive.

Keep the old parts and try to sell them on eBay as separate pieces to recoup some of your money.

Volvo does not sell just the uj's, they sell a whole u-joint assy kit - IDK why, but I'd guess there's a reason. Not too bad to change if you have the Volvo tools and manual
