Is there an appropriate sealing product to substitute for the "White Sealing Compound For Sterndrives" Volvo part number 1141570. When reinstalling a sterndrive?

This sealing compound is specified in the factory shop manual to be applied to the threads of the six studs when reinstalling the sterndrive.

Although this product is not available on the Volvo Penta Store I was able to source it through MarineDieselDirect.com for $15.28 per tube plus shipping. If there is a suitable substitute for this product I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks!

That sealer isn't needed, a little gease works great. It's on there to prevent corrosion. In salt water a lot of corrosion will build up between the drive housing and the studs.

Thanks Don,

I'll go with a dab of grease.
