Nothing wrong with them at all. Overall a decent boat. They are fairly common boat in the midwest and west.

I have a 22 ft and it has been in some real rough water. They are a very deep boat and I really enjoy mine for fishing

I don't know how exactly they are related to Smokercrafts, but it looks like Smokercraft is the Western US version of the Sylvan.

Anyways,my first boat was a 15' Smokercraft Alaskan bought new in '97. I really used that boat hard in the 6 years I had it and I have nothing but good to say about it. I paid $4500 for the boat and oil-injected 25hp Yamaha motor in '97. I sold it to the first guy that looked at when I sold it in 2003. He paid $3800 for it.

I would have bought a bigger Smokercraft, but at the time they didn't offer one the length I wanted.

Smokercraft and Sylvan are like (old) Johnson and Evinrude - virtually identical except for the name. My first boat was also a Sylvan, a 14' Sport Troller bought it new in '88, sold it in '00. It was a great small fishing rig. I wish I could have kept it... just didn't have room for two boats. I was very happy with my Sylvan we caught lots of fish and had many good times on it. It never leaked a drop. I bought it for about $2100 in '88 and put a '69 Johnson 25 hp on it. In '00 I sold it with the motor for $1600. Mine also sold to the first guy who looked at it. He looked at it for about 5 minutes and quickly handed over $1600. I was kicking myself for not asking for more.

Smokercraft was the first brand, then the owner created a second line and named it Sylvan, supposedly after his wife.
I believe they now own Crestliner and Monark.

I always liked the layout of the Sylvan boats, practicle and convenient.

There's an awful lot of them here in the midwest.

It looked pretty nice and was setup with alot of things some of the more expensive boats had. The dealer just got them in and had little experiance with them but the few that he has sold the people have been happy with and he is willing to mount any motor i want on it. and i pay the difference in the price of the motor. he also is willing to throw in a bow mounted trolling motor 40# thrust if i decided to do it.

I am mainly used to flat's boats and this has a deep v type hull and would ride a bit better so i think the wife would like it lore lol. Plus i can finish my old boat and use it in salt water and keep this one for freash water as i live only 2 miles from the suwannee river.
