OK...and old topic perhaps, but...I'm getting ready to do the first oil change on my Yam 115 4-stroke, and am thinking about using Mobil 1. I've never used this in any engine, but have always heard good things. Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Sedge

Re: Synthetic oil for 4-stroke

We used to use it in all our race engines, never had any complaints from the engine builders on wear. was really good oil.
We dont use it any more because the formula has changed and they no longer put in some things that the race motors need. We use Brad Penn Racing oil now. I wouldnt reccomend it for your engine tho.

Re: Synthetic oil for 4-stroke

I have used only Mobil 1 in my vehicles for years, but:

When I bought a Suzi DF70 they specifically recommended not using synthetics for break in. Some theory that it slows down the proper seating of rings and allows "making oil".

I would check with the Yammy guys on avoiding "making oil" by avoiding synthetic oils.
