Synthetic vs reg

On a 1983 115 merc would it be better if i went with synthetic 2 Cycle marine oil or stay with the old stuff?

Petro-oil is better for your wallet, Synthetic is better for the environment.

Some believe that synthetic is better for your engine, but that is not universal.
