I have a 1989 100hp johnson outboard on a 18.5 lund tyee and have noticed after running it all day I will start getting a single beep from the warning horn when i turn the key on, is it supposed to beep once everytime you turn the key on for a system test or is my warning system malfunctioning?

I have a1989 120hp evenrude and it does "beep" (always) when the key is turned to the on position. As I understand it, it's like a powerup test, letting you know the alarm sys. is working.. I believe it's the overheat portion of the system that is tested, not sure about low oil or fuel. Your indications appear normal, but you should get the beep on initial start-up also.

All that the single beep does when you turn the key to run or start is test the horn. It does not run any analysis of the warning wiring.

well I do not get the beep on intial startup only once in a while, I think that i have some loose wiring or a bad warning horn, i will have to check it out before i put it away for the winter.
