How long should it take for t stat to open and for water to come out of exhast holes middle ways up leg housing? Pee hole sprays water like a champ. 1978 25 Johnson
What you have there are 2 seperate questions. Should only take a few seconds for the spent cooling water to exit via the exhaust. The t stats opening however are not based on time, rather water temp, and I believe in you case that temp is around 145 degrees.
Is this the same 25 hp you've been working on the water pump? If so, sounds like you've got 'er pumpin'. Great! Are you getting close to fixing it for good?

Alright took to lake still not pumping water out of exhaust hole. Brought home and removed T stat. Started motor in deep bucket and water sprays out of pee hole and gushes out of t stat hole. But with tstat in place no water is coming out of exhaust holes. The T Stat is brand new also. Could there be a clog from tstat to exhasut holes?
