T-stat temperature

1973 115 johnny<br />What is the proper temp for the vernatherm? Omc factory manual says its 145* in the text covering t-stat operation. On the next page a graphic illustration (figure 5-3 on page 5-4 of the manual)says 130*. When I cross the part #(384719) to find a replacement they call it 105*. The OMC parts list doesn't list the temp. I want to get the right sat in this but these differences are troubling me.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Mike

130 is running to hot ,the 105 is right 100 is to cold

Indymike,<br /><br />I don't know if this helps, but my 1975 115 manual says that, "When the power head and cooling system temperatures reach [sic]range of 100 to 130 the Vernatherm element opens the Vernatherm valve...". It then shows probably the same diagram 5-3 on page 5-4 and says, "Thermostat to open at 100 to 130".<br /><br />The manual also says the 100 Thermomelt should melt but the 130 shouldn't...which makes a 105 opener sound just about right.<br /><br />Of course, you have to keep in mind that 80% of everything I know about OB motors I learned from my manual or on this forum. So maybe this $0.02 is worth just about that much.<br /><br />Just my $0.02 worth,<br />Joe
