Its on 2000 crestliner superhawk so it's faria gauges has oil level gauge, overheat lights below on tach. I pulled the tach out has harness below, and power for light then the screwdriver area with just a 5 and 6 number. Tach was on 6 and the owner who sold me boat mentioned tach does not work. I think 12pole setting is what I want. Motor is 2000 yamaha 90hp carby. Only information I found was maybe setting 5 is 12pole but have no idea what 6 might be for only 4strokes? Motor is appart or I would test this on 5 see how it works. I would have hard time understanding how this newly installed used motor could be done wrong with Outboard mechanic does this for living. What else is done wrong with this motor geshh going to check carb screw settings! Mechanic also did pressure test lol and passed. My test failed like no other!! Lower unit seal is installed backwards! Heck even mecury master mechanic said coils face fluid lol! Rodbolt who I trust said back to back with coils up towards block. Ok enough rantting hehe.

Here is some general info from Faria. 12 pole sounds right

Do a search for your tach model # on the Faria web site.
I am sure you will find the manual for it.
Not sure what pressure test you are speaking about compression/leakdown or the lower unit.

The parts break down and/or repair manual should show the way the seals are installed
