I have a 98 suntracker pontoon with a 3.0 merc inboard, there is a few things i need help with. the tach does not move and i don't know how to determine if it is a wireing problem or the gauge itself. Also about engine oil changes, i cannot see a way to get to the oil pan plug and was wondering if those dipstick tube pumps work. Thanks for any help. Al

Pumping the oil out of the dipstick tube is "How It's Done". You don't need to stick a tube into the dipstick tube, just attach the pump to dipstick tube and pump it out. Just make sure you run the engine and warm the oil up first.

As far as the tach goes. If you have good power and ground at the tach and the sender wire (gray) from the coil to the tach has continuity, you probably have a bad tach.
