i have a 1988 johnson 150 gt 150stlaca
i have no tach! it runs off of the regulator, the grey wire and the regulator works gr8 as far as charging the batteries but i seemingly have no output to the tach

anybody know how much voltage is supposed to be coming out of the regulator for the tach? i am trying to find out if i need a tach or a regulator! anybody have a gently used watercooled regulator for a johnson they wanna get ride of?

thanks

ps i been reading the posts here and have learned a load of info already!

thanks again

Re: tach feed

Welcome to iboats. :)

There may be a tiny rotaty switch on the back of the tach. Make sure it's snapped into position.

It's possible for the regulator tach lead to fail but still have the regulator work. T into one of the yellow stator leads with the gray lead to the tach. If that doesn't wake-up the tach, look at the tach wiring, or it needs a tach. (That's if the charging system is definately charging the battery. )

Also make sure that you have a good ground at the black wire on the back of the tach, and 12v at the purple wire with the key on.
