Re: Tach, gauge help

The tach, temp, and Trim/Tilt gauges get their power and signal from the engine harness. 12V+ should be a purple wire, trim and tilt sender should be brown w/white stripe, tach sender should be gray, and temp I believe is tan. Check for good voltage on the purple with the key in the on position. Then, with the motor running, check for around 5.5V on all 3 of the sender wires. Make sure you have a good ground on all 3 as well.

Hi

The mod will probably send you to http://forums.iboats.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23 there is a lot of information there

However, the basic thing you need to do is examine the wire connections. Start at the tach, select one wire, remove it, clean it and put it back on the tack making sure it is snug, it should have a small star washer.

follow that wire to it's source, and check the connection there and repeat what you did above for that connection.

You will most likely find the fuses during this process, do the same, remove the fuse from the holder, clean the fuse, and fuse terminals, replace.

If the switches are not protected one or more of them may be bad, you will need to use a volt meter or a 12 vdc probe (light on a stick) to determin if you are getting voltage to the switch and none out.

The connections are more than likely to be the problem on a boat, they get corroded.

Yep you will need to do that for every wire, what a pain the the A--, no magic way to make it work, sorry
