My remote control has a 3 pin tach connector, but the harness from the guage has a 5 pin connector.
Is there an adapter to connect the 2?

Re: Tach harness connectors

You obviously can't connect a five terminal connector to a three terminal connector so you improvise. These two components were not meant to play with each other. So. You cut the connector off the tach harness. YOu then buy the tach harness from Cabelas, Bass Pro, IBoats, or a dealer for your engine. The three pins are +12 volts, ground and send which are the "I", ground, and "S" terminals on the tach. Since the tach has an internal light, that wire goes to the same terminal on any other gauge. The internal light should share the ground with the tach but if it has a separate ground connection, the two can be jumpered together. Now here is another plan. You really do not need to use that three pin connector. I mentioned that the light connection can be made at the same terminal on any other gauge! Well, the +12 volts and ground connections on the tach can also be made at the corresponding terminals on any other gauge. That leaves only the "S" (send) liine which connects to the gray wire in the control box harness. There should be a pigtail under the dash or near the control box.
