Tach harness wire

Dealer cost (80.00) for tach harness (!!)on my new 4-stroke. Is this the same connector thats been used for many years on mercs controls? If so then would just get off ebay as dont need new. <br /><br /><br />PS My new control box is not in yet(ordered) so cant just look at it to tell.<br /><br />Thanks.

Not the same. I believe the harness quoted would be for their hi-tech gauge set.

Willy, <br />Whats the high tech gauge? <br /><br />I asked the dealer:<br />"is there anything this motor req's other than a std tach" (special tach with lights,etc...) and they said "no,all warnings are on motor"<br /><br />I presume with my new controls comming all I need is the connector from control to the tach. I have a 4-cycle tach handy-think it will work, so just need the plug from control(?). I could just make a connector, but if its cheap enough would just buy.
