After doing a partial engine overhaul my tach worked for a few minutes and then quit. Ive checked the power and ground supply to the tach, no problems there. The signal wire is intact and has good continuity to the connection at the coil. I have tried a different coil just because I happen to have one and had no change. The gauge when it first quit was stuck at approx. 900 rpm. at some point after it dropped to 0 and has not moved since. I have tried changing the pulse settings just to see if I could get anything out of it, it never budged.
Engine/drive is Volvo penta 5.7lGLi SX cobra. Gauges are OMC brand O.E. gauges that have worked flawlessly for many years until now.
I was hoping to be able to make absolutly sure that I had tested everything properly before replacing the tach as they are both hard to find and expensive. I believe that this is the replacement part # OMC #174985.
