I have a 2005 Mrecruiser MAG 350 MPI, it has a tach lead coming off the engine right in front of the flame arestor. Can I plug in my Snap on automotive meter to get a tach reading?
My tach does not work, I have 12 volts with the ignition switch on at the ground and positive (purple wires). I connected to the ground and signal (Gray wire) with the meter and I get no reading.

That lead is there to hook up a shop tach. Rather your particular meter will work on it or not, I have no idea, Snapon has had hundreds of different types of tachs.

Well I got nothing, so either my shop tach doesn't work either or I have a wiring problem.
