Tach Not Reading on Evinrude E200STLER

I will be brief, and explain all circumstances.

Last Fall I replaced the Rectifier/Regulator because it wasn't charging my battery AND my tach stopped working.

A few weeks ago I had to replace a 1 yr. old cranking battery because it would no longer hold a charge, and would only hold a surface charge for 5 minutes MAX.

Now my tach doesn't work AGAIN.

Any suggestions?

By the way .... the Rectifier is still under warranty, but it's such a pain to replace.

Tested the Rectifier/Regulator and it was charging a little too high, and the tach side wasn't working. I pulled it to replace it, because I've heard about rectifiers going bad and catching fire even with the smallest malfunction in them. When that catches fire you have to worry about replacing your stator or worse. Better safe than sorry.
