I bought this boat and had to put a few things back together that the guy I bought it from took apart, I can't get the tach, volt meter, speedo, to work, but that is because I can't find it in the manual. I think on the tach, there is a purple wire connected to the back of the ignition coil, what else is there? 1990 merc 4.3 alpha 1.
Does the voltmeter work if the alternator doesn't? Where do the leads from the voltmeter go? fuse panel under dash? I'll keep looking, but I don't really know what to look for. Thanks, Mark.

By the way, I get 10 times more information from you guys, than the seloc manual for my merc. And previously the clymer manual for my force outboard. This forum ROCKS!!!!!

That's not a surpise. Those things are for making your wallet lighter, not helping you fix the engine.
Stick with the OEM manuals and you will get all the info you need.
Things like this.

Thanks DonS, I'll take a look at this and see how mine is wired up.
