Re: tach not working

Usually a grey wire coming from the harness. Usually fed off the terminal block where the wires connect for the rectifier/regulator, don't know your exact outboard.

Re: tach not working

If you have the same year factory control box, there should be a tach pigtail-dangling from the control box with a rubber plug on it. It's for an OMC plug-in tach. The grey is signal, black is ground and the pink is hot. All you should need for any marine tach. You will need to hardwire the light to the other dash gauges.

If your tach is not working you better check to see if your batterys are charging, I learned the hard way could be your rectifier / regulator not working. the feed from the tach comes thru the grey wire thru the charging system.
