Tach on 1988 60 HP Mariner worked then quit then worked and now quit again.

I know I have power to the tach so need to know what wire to trace from the motor. I have the manual but there is nothing in it about the tach wiring.

Do you have the old-school MerControl with the rubber-covered 3-prong plug on front edge with tach wiring in it? Make sure that hasn't come loose from the socket.
