 97 Wellcraft 264 Coastal twin 200 Merc. I rebuild one of the outboard engines and everything worked okay except that the tachometer of the rebuild one now is about 2500 RPM higher that the other Tach. Both engines sound and responde the same when operating at different settings but the tachometer differ on their RPM readings. The tachometer are OEM and do not have decals showing model, etc. Any ideas, suggestions, comments are welcome

Re: Tach out of Sync

Try turning the pole selector switch (on the back of the tach) a few cycles through it's range. This will clean the contacts and will usually fix it. Just be sure it's returned to it's previous setting. Also make sure both tac's are set the same.
