This is my first post here. I have a strange problem. The tach seems to stay around 1200 rpm when idling. I know that is not right. Then at time it will go to the right setting of 550rpm. My boat is a 96 Volvo penta 5.0 FI. any help would be great

Re: Tach problem

Try loosening the mounting screews on the back of the tach. While there, make sure all the wires are tight, and turn the little setting arrrow is on 3.

Re: Tach problem

If it's a Faria, there is an adjustment hole on the back that fits a 5/16 allan key.

Re: Tach problem

I will lokk for that ajustment, But it will drop down to the right setting once in a while. When running you can see the tach jump around once in a while then it might read the right rpms. I will check the ajustment it could be loose.
