tach question

I just bought a teleflex tach and Im a bit confused on what pole setting to use.My stator has 8 small poles and 2 larger one is that considered an 8 pole for the altenator or do you count all of them? Thanx in advance to all the gurus out there!

Koma, your tach should be set for 6 pulse, setting 6 on the tach.

Thanx thats what its set at out of the box just wasnt sure
