tach question

1972 -85 hp rude. I put my rude on a ranger bass boat that formally had a merc 115. Trying to get the tach going but it just maxes out. I know people have said I am sopposed to use four poles. The back of my tach just has two terminals pos and neg. I can see no way to adjust the poles

Mercs may be different and you need a new tach, the only tachs I have ever seen have different poles marked on them and 3 wires.

Patrick is there a dial on the back ? that must be in the right position for ur tach to operate properly ie; 1 to 6

Need a new tach then, check Ebay, I saw a bunch of them for cheap, always something isn't it.
