Tach question

Hey all have a simple one I hope, I am repowering my boat from a 89 125 to a 97 120, will the tach from my 125 work with the 120?

Maybe. The stator on your 1989 125 HP has 20 poles. The stator on your 1997 120 has 12 poles. If your tach has a switch for both, then it's as simple as re-setting the switch on the back of the tach. Most tachs have a 12 pole setting as this is very common on outboards.

Right on thank you! I sure hope it does! do the old mid 70's 1150 115hp have a 12 pole also?
