I read a lot that the tach for johnson 150 GT needs to be set on 6....Is that 6C or 6P.

They are opposite each other. Right now the arrow points at 6C. Is that correct?

Re: Tach setting 6C or 6P

Is there a 3P right beside the 6C? Tachs have rotary switches on the back that set it to different numbers of coils in the charging circuit, times two because there is a positive and negative pulse for each coil for each cycle. Tachs measure pulses. So if you had a 6 pole alternator, the rotary dial would be at 3P6C, if you have a 12 pole alternator, the rotary dial would be set at 6P.
